Help 911

Yesterday was first day of hatching and 8 little ones popped out. And they fluffed up nice. The humidity has been staying at 65. Now for some reason tonight the humidity has spiked to 80 and my fluffed chicks are now soaking wet! What should I do! I don’t want the rest of the unhatched eggs to drown and I don’t want to chill the babies by taking them out so they can dry. I don’t want to lose any of my babie.

How are they? I have only hatched once with one egg so I can't really help you. I suppose the best thing to do would be to get the humidity down and leave the babies in there.

Any reason why the babies are all still in there? I have always just taken them out immediately. Do you have a brooder set up and warmed already? If so, there’s no reason you can’t take them out. They should fluff up fine in the brooder. Hatching increases humidity as does the chicks breathing, etc. so by having 8 chicks in there and I’m assuming them hatching fairly close together, that would have spiked the humidity. It should go back down if you take them out and also maybe take a little water out. I prefer to have my humidity a little lower but it should be fine since you’re getting chicks.

We were going too but number 8 hatched munch later than the others so we wanted them to dry out before opening. Then they al started to get wet

They are still wet. Took them out and moved them to the brooder. Hope they will be ok. And ya once I moved them the humidity started dropping. I havnt had any new hatches yet. I know it can be up to day 24 but still worries me something went wrong

I’m sure they will all be fine. It’s good you moved them out. Btw for the future you can move them out as soon as they hatch. Mine usually hatched overnight but I always moved them out as soon as I saw them. Usually one or two at a time, sometimes three. And they were all fine and a single chick will also be fine alone in the incubator if you move the others.

I’m worried about the other eggs. If they drowned or of me opening it to get them out shrink wrapped any. None of them are wiggling to a whistle. And not a single one has hatched since hatch day 1

I would try to get the humidity down even more if you can. What is it at now? I would try to get it at least under 60 or under 50 even. Although that might mess them up if they’re used to the higher humidity. Idk. What day are the eggs on now? It can sometimes take longe for shorter depending on temps in the incubator etc. when I hatched, I had some early ones hatch Thursday and some late ones hatch as late as Saturday but most hatched Friday. But you can sometimes get them hatching a day or two apart and that’s normal. Though if they’re too far apart there may be temperature issues. I didn’t call it till like day 23 or 24 though.

I thought 8 had hatched? Do you mean day 21?
