Hi guys,
I hatched 3 baby chicks which are now approx 2 days old. One of them is lethargic, smaller and has a large soft lump on her chest.
She hasn't eaten apart from the yolk and sugar water I dipped her beak in.
What is wrong? Is this lump normal?
I put her back I in the incubator to warm her up a little but very concerned.
Thanks:)

Where is the lump? Her crop should be a small, firm lump on her chest. I think it's slightly to the right but I could be wrong. Have you put electrolytes in their water? Electrolytes are a good way to boost the chick's energy and encourage them to eat and move.

It's slightly to the right! Do I use human electrolytes?

It sounds like you have done everything right, if you have kept her at a good temp then there could be something wrong with her internally and she may not make it.

Human electrolytes like pedialyte have a LOT of salt which is likely not good for chicks (or dogs) at all. If you want to try you could mix up some water, a raw egg and little sugar, give that to her at body temp and see if she will drink some but realistically she doesn't even need to eat at 2 days of age so I doubt it will make a difference. Just try to keep her warm and comfy.
