I feel so silly making all of these posts but now something else has me worried. Its like each day there is a bird doing something different that seems off.
I now have 1 approximately 14 weeks old Australorp who is not wanting to eat and is acting lethargic (laying down a lot, not scratching around, but still moving around a little bit). I noticed yesterday, but figured she was just hot (its been in the mid 90s here). I brought her inside yesterday for a bit to cool off, it seemed to help a little. She was still acting sluggish but ate some food when offered an drank some water.
Today its more of the same, but now she seems to have even less of an appetite. Its almost like eating is uncomfortable. I wet some of their normal food to make a mash. She pecked at it a little, and when she did eat a few little bites she started gagging afterwards. The gag looked like what the bird is doing in this video:
It looks like the person who posted is asking about gapeworms. She did this maybe 3-4 times and stopped. First and only time I've seen her do it, hasn't done it sense.
I now have her inside, did an inspection. Feet, feathers, eyes, nose all look good. No poopy bottom, though yesterday the only poops I saw from her were a cecal (looked normal) and some wet diarrhea (again, figured it was the heat). Today there's been more diarrhea.
Her crop feels completely empty. I don't think she's eaten anything. I've had her in a carrier in the house for about an hour now with some water, a small bit of her food, and a couple of grapes just to see if she'd try them. She made a couple of pecks at the food but didn't really eat. Did eat the grapes, albeit sort of slowly and strange. She would take a couple of bites, then stop almost like she was resting and close her eyes, then pop back up and take another bite. She did not gag after eating the grapes.
Does this sound like anything?
A picture of a poop from today from inside the carrier (I know one isolated picture proves nothing, but just in case):
I panicked and put everyone back on Corid JUST in case since its the only thing I have on hand and could think to do. A fecal was done (on a sample from a different bird but one she lives with) earlier this week and came back negative.
