HELP! beginner parakeet cage question

i may be getting a large parakeet cage this weekend but im confused with how they need their bar spacing...is 1/2" apart okay, and 5/8"?

ideas? any help is greatly appreciated!

Yes, 1/2" or 5/8" bar spacing is what you want for parakeets. I have used 3/4", but they could get their heads through that, and even their whole body.
