I have searched and searched and can't find any info to help me on this one. I know pullet should have ticking or lacing in their hackles and 3 rows SEEMS to be the magic number. All I want to know is how do you add the ticking? I have a few pullets with some black but not much..... I have what I THINK is a roo (SO NOT SURE) that has lots of black ticking. If he is a roo should I use him to make pullets and pair him with the pullets with the most black showing?

If he is a she how would you introduce the lacing or ticking? How do you improve this? Just breed and cull till you get it?

If your suspected male turns out to be a female I guess you're SOL unless you can find another male. If he is a male it sounds like he should pair well with your females. From there you do just what you said. Hatch as many as you can & cull ruthlessly.

Looked him over today and pretty sure he is a he! I would guess he would only be useful for making pullets.... right? Maybe I will just have to figure that out with the chicks. I guess what I am asking is are the NH a breed where you have to have a pen for pullet and a pen for roos?
