Hi, my girl has been sitting and panting for four days, i have given her warm epsom salt baths, put oil in her vent, administered calcium water through syring, all daily for four days. the symptoms started 5 days ago. Nothing seems to help. Today I put my finger in to try to feel for an egg, but all i feel is broken egg shell in her small intestine area. I can't seem to find the opening to clean it out further. She has had many small poops yesterday that were yellow/white, but it doesn't seem to help her. She is now panting and laying down, not eating much at all.
thanks.

Welcome to BYC? How old is your hen? Has she had any soft shell or shell-less eggs before? Can you put on a glove and lubricate her vent, and try to get out any of the remnants of the shell? Do you have access to a vet or some antibiotics around? She may have been egg bound and the egg broke inside. That can be a set up for infection that can affect the oviduct. Many hens can suffer from reproductive problems that can affect shell and laying. Here are some diagrams of the reproductive organ:

Hi there. My gal Abby, is about 1.5 yrs old and I haven't noticed any soft shelled eggs. I did clean out the vent this morning. I went in 2.25 inches ish and can not feel anything else in there but can feel it all through the wall of the large intestine tube. It's all down where the small intestine is, I feel broken shell sloshing about in there.

I saw mention of penicillin, can you share any info on that?

Most antibiotics require a prescription, with the exception of procaine penicillin G from the feed stores in the refrigerated medicines. Procaine penicillin G is given as an injection into the breast muscle once a day for 4-5 days. Dosage is 0.25 ml daily. A 20 gauge needle and syringe is needed each day. Do not use benzathine penicillin. Procaine pen G comes in different brands.

Online, you can order amoxicillin for fish and Baytril for pigeons. This 100 ml bottle of Baytril (enrofloxacin) is $23 and dosage is 0.05 ml per pound twice a day for 5-6 days.
https://www.jedds.com/shop/misc/
It is banned in chickens in the US, but many vets here and in other countries use it for a broad spectrum antibiotic.
Fish mox dosage is 250 mg twice a day for 5 days and is available here:

Wow, thank you for all of that! I have called a vet, and am waiting to hear if they will be able to help me. I'm in a difficult area and so getting there is an issue. Thanks for the help
