Help! Broody hen hatching in 1 week.

Good morning!
I have my broody hen sitting on eggs in a small grow out pen that are due in a week. The nest boxes are up an 18" ramp. My understanding is chicks can't navigate the ramp. I'm thinking of buying small dog kennel and putting it in the bottom section of the run. The run is small, but very secure. Will chicks be able to navigate the 1" lip of the dog kennel (see pic)?
Also, should I wait for them to hatch to move her?

Yes they can navigate the 1" lip. I would not move her until after the chicks have hatched. There is always the chance of her breaking broodiness if you do so.

One more question. At night I'm going to shut them in the kennel. Do I need to put food and water in there? Or is it like my grown hens where they don't need access to food and water at night?
