Ok so my ultra major super broody poo poo head cochin,Tilly started brooding and I want to let her brood. she has been for a couple days now and I have a few problems:
1. she will ONLY lay in the coop.
2. she will ONLY lay in one nest box.
3. she has been laying on eggs for a few days and that means we cant harvest them.
4. our incubator is FULL of turkey eggs.
5. my little diva, Gunter will only lay in the nest box that Tilly lays in.
What do I do???

I'm currently having that problem with my brahma, Louisa. She's in one of six boxes, in a full coop. I marked a few eggs with a pencil and let her sit, but the pencil wore off. I tried pen. It wore off. I tried sharpie. She ate the eggs. (I doubt sharpie tastes that good.)
Maybe you should mark a few eggs you want her to hatch, and gather all unmarked daily.
If she pecks you, wear gloves. I put my hand up under their chest and hold them up while I gather eggs with my other hand.

I have marked the eggs shes brooding but my big problems are: she will ONLY lay in the coop - so i cant move her to a new location and the eggs might crack when another hen goes in. she has been laying on eggs for a few days and that means we cant harvest them - its not exactly we cant harvest its that the embryos are probably developing...

That's the exact problem my broody was having. I finally just tossed the eggs out (because they were covered in yolk from an eggs someone ate). She's still broody but I just gather the eggs twice daily

Please help!!!

My Henrietta seems to have gone broody over the last two days, but is laying on others eggs where they will only lay, All my hens were POL and have only been laying for 4 weeks now, so I am not ready for this, I thought I would have a years grace!!

I have no Cockerel and only one pen as we are in semi woodland I would have to build another pen ( fox proof it) and get a broody box! I am not bothered about the eggs but worried for her this is my first time as a hen mummy!

I have thrown her off the eggs today to collect, but she makes such a horrible noise I feel so guilty....

Any tips on how to resolve this best for my Hen and my nerves?

Thank you for any little shred of wisdom
