We've been playing the broody game with our two Cochins since late April. Hen 1 started first, but broke her brood after a week. Hen 2 lasted over 6 weeks with us bringing her into the house and into a dark, cool environment. Hen I started again and ended up in the house this time for three days. Got hen 1 back outside on Friday, and now hen 2 is broody again!!! They have plenty of shade, electrolyte H2O, layer feed and plenty of fresh veggies, etc. We've never had a problem with our others - EEs and a New Hampshire Red (in fact, the NHR is a NASTY hen, spurs and all - she'll outlive all of us).
I know that Cochins are a 'broody' breed, but this is getting ridiculous!
Is there anything else that we should be doing??

Thank you for the response, but that isn't an option. They're our pets.
You could always just let them hatch chicks, that works for awhile :p
In fact, that's what we have going on right now- Two mommies, one has four chicks, one has one chick that hatched late from the other mom. Otherwise, your only option is to keep the broodies alive and healthy, and if you're really worried, break them out of it with a cage/adverse conditions, etc.
