Help...Chick is bleeding....

My first silkie chick hatched a couple hours ago and it seems to be bleeding on its bottom or somewhere near there. How can I stop it?? It's dark red blood.

Did you help it out of the shell or did it get out on its own? There is probably not much you can do but wait and see, might just be a bit of the umbilical cord that has almost receded.

Apply a little pressure with toilet paper. That will often stop a wound. Will pray for you and the chickie. Please keep us posted.

Thanks guys! It came out on it's own. I took it out, put powder on it and applied pressure with a paper towel. It seems fine now. It bled a lot though. It's walking and moving around but I didn't have hope at first. I was freaking out!
