well the anticipation got the better of me and i try to help the chick out of the shell .(please don't criticize me over this) .anyways the chick had a small bleed by its butt which soon stopped after putting it into the brooder .it is now on its side looking weak ,eyes closed and fast heart beat.its also opens its mouth every 30 seconds or so as if to draw in a breath of air .im not sure what is going on with it .what do i do ?this happen to any of you guys before?help would be greatly appreciated

Was there any yolk?

It sounds somewhat like agonal breathing, though its not abnormal for a chick to be lethargic and sleepy after hatching. Some are up right away and some sleep for a day.

A chickens heart rate is very fast, regardless.
