Help! Chick won't hatch.

The chick pipped the shell about twelve o' clock today. If I raise the incubator lid, it peeps. Do you think it will hatch?

It took mine 24 hours after pipping. Breaking through is very tiring for the chick. I think most common is a little over 12 hours to zip after pipping, though.

Thank you. I just looked in the incubator, and the chick is now trying to hatch. I really appreciate your help. It makes me feel better.

Raising the lid during a hatch causes the humidity to decrease, they need the humidity or else the membrane may become to dry , enclosing the chick and killing it. It can take upwards of 24 hours for a chick to emerge from the shell completely.
