Help! Chicken found dead - so sign of injury or illness

I just went outside and discovered by Golden Wynadote on the ground of the run dead. There was no sign of illness. I just examined her whole body, and do not see any injuries. I'm freaking out. Anyone have any idea what could have happened. She is 5 months old.

It can be common to lose a hen at time of point of lay. She could have been egg bound or have had and internal defect such as heart, liver, or kidney disease. You may be able to check her for a stuck egg, or do a necropsy to look for obvious problems if you are used to butchering a chicken. Your state vet could also do a necropsy. It's always a shock to lose your first chicken, especially if it is a pet, but it does happen from time to time when you have a flock. Sorry for your loss.
