Help! Chicken with abnormal vent?

I have a two year old maran, who has an abnormal looking vent. It has been like this for months, and she does not show any other signs of being ill. Anyone know what this could be? It is also inflamed and featherless (for unknown reasons), and the white discharge does not come out rapidly, so i don't know if it could be vent gleet? Pictures are below:

I had the same problem with my Jersey Giant. I started by washing My Frankie in the bird bath with water cleaning the area with water only then while wet put diatomaceous earth not the pool kind. I did this every few days. In the beginning Frankie fought me by the 3rd time I could clean her and she would just stand in the bird bath and allow me to doctor her right up. This red enlarge area had no feathers. Within a week the area is white and feathers are growing. I now do this once a week. It's been a month and it's 100 percent better. You can't even see the enlarged vent.
