We redid our coop and put some of this black pipe insulation around the tin shed cut out to help with the sharpness not even thinking they would eat it. Came home and found they indeed ate it. 😭
It was about a 3 ft piece im total they prob ate like half of it. ( 10 hens and 1 roo)

1. Will they be ok?
2. Should we discard the eggs and if so for how long?

Do they have poultry grit or small gravels available to help the gizzard grind feed and grasses? Most of the time they will pass the foam insulation through digestion. Chilled coconut oil cut into small pieces to peck may also be helpful. Others may have better suggestions. I wouldn’t worry about eggs at this time.

They do have grit and grass avaliable.

Yes, they will be fine. Chickens eat a lot of things. Throw some styrofoam out there and watch what happens.

I'm sure you aren't meaning to recommend doing this, but I want to make it clear that no one should feed styrofoam to chickens!
No, I was not recommending to do it. I don't make recommendations to what people feed their chickens.

But, I have seen plenty of chickens eat styrofoam and even know people that regularly make it available to them to eat. I have no clue why they give it to them. But, I have never known of it harming the chickens either.

Chickens eat a lot of things. And, they eat a lot of things that we as chicken owners don't even realize they do eat.
