We have a backyard flock of three hens (~6 months old) that we have been feeding chick crumbles. Two of the three starting laying, so we switched them to layer pellets, on Monday, which they refused to eat. This morning we got them layer crumbles, which they are also refusing to eat. They forage very actively when free-ranging in the yard and will still eat other treat foods out of our hands, so it is not an appetite problem. They have noticibly thinned out since the attempted food switch. We like to think they will eat the crumbles if they get hungry enough, but the weight loss is disturbing. Any advice?
