I have a big problem, I have lost 2 9wk old chicks, just all of the sudden. I looked and saw blood and so I figured it is cocci. I can tell that another is on her way out, and I just don't want to lose anymore. It is the 4th of July and no one is open. Is there any sort of home rememdy to save the last two? Please let me know, my hubby is going out to try and find a store that is open to get sulmet. Thanks!

I have been dealing with cocci with my 3 wo silkies.
One thing that I read and tried was to add powdered milk to their feed. It's supposed to make them thirsty and then they drink more to flush it out. I also read about adding ACV to their water and feeding them yogurt. I also read that Corid is better for treatment and prevention. Whatever you try, do it quick. It seems that once you see the signs, they die within 96 hours. Watch them closely and make sure they get plenty to drink and eat. You might need to encourage them to drink more.

I feel for you. I lost 6 little ones in 2 weeks. The remaining 6 little ones seem to be doing good but I guess time will tell.

Any farmers in your area? (Any BYCers) > they might have amprol/corrid or sulmet on hand to help you out.
