HELP dark green liquid diarrhea.. TREATMENT?

one of my rooster has been have diarrhea. i have seperated him from the rest and caged him in my heated garage. he eats fine but drinks more water than usual.

his poop is really liquidy and a darker green color. i think he has diarrhea.

what can I do? any meds I can give to the guy to help him out.

is the dark green like olive green?
is it "fluorescent"?

please say what all you feed.
please describe his comb..is it pale, dry?..is it hot or cold?
please check under wings for heat and moisture.

one thing I can think of off the top of my head, that can cause green diarrhea, and increased water consumption, is leucocytozoonosis.
but there are a few other things that can cause these symptoms.

is there any spilled feed around that could have gone moldy?
any stagnant water around in puddles?

offer some plain active culture yogurt in feed, electrolytes, and vitamins.

do you have any antibiotic on hand?

its more of an olive green. i feed a mix of shell corn, cracked corn, mixed with grains oats and paddy rice, and a little gamebird feed for protein. His comb is pale. i'm in MN so its cold outside but the pole barn is heated as well as the garage. body temp seems to be fine.

i have penicillin injectable and some amoxicillin pills. will these help him?

for now...cut way back on the corn and rice, etc. and concentrate on giving him extra protein..more gamebird feed, and some cooked egg..

don't forget the yogurt.
electrolytes are important since he has diarrhea.

checking the temp of comb and under wings can indicate fever, or low temp.

you say the comb is pale..how about the shanks?

check that your feeds for musty smell..or rodent infestation.
and check out the spilled feed (including any corn)
and standing water, or water contaminated from droppings or feed.

see if the change in diet, a probiotic (yogurt), and electrolytes help the droppings change more to normal before giving the penicillin.

IMHO this has resulted from improper nutrition. A proper feed formulation is missing in the diet you are currently giving. Go to your feed store and see if they have a vitamin product for poultry and give that in his waterer. Proper nutrition is recquired no matter what else is ailing him.

* I know it's winter there. Have you BOUGHT any greens to feed? Esp. greens from out of the country? If so, did you wash them? Too much of some kinds of greens, or something on them could have done this.
