Hello. Newbie here. First hatch.
I need some help and advice. I started with 18 eggs. 6 hatched on day 21. They all seem healthy and are doing well. I had 3 hatch yesterday on day 22. One seems ok. Two have an issue with feet and/or legs. Been researching and am trying to figure out what to do to help. Not standing well or walking well. Tried the boot fix on one. Helps a little.
Last night during the night the humidity dropped to 50%. I don' know how long it was a 50. I raised it back up this am as soon as I realized it.
My question is...will the remaining eggs hatch? I dont see any signs. And if so, will the chick's have issues? I did read that late hatchers have more issues.
I feel bad for the 2 that are struggling. Wondering if the rest will struggle because of humidity issues.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The only way a drop in humidity would affect the remaining eggs is if they had externally pipped. You can candle the remaining eggs to see if they are still alive. A live egg/chick will fill the space under the air cell. A dead embryo sinks towards the narrow end of the egg and there will be a watery gap between the air cell and dead chick with no veins visible.

Were they shipped eggs, or eggs you bought from someone? It's just that the nutrition the flock receives impacts on the quality of the eggs laid and the health of the resulting embryos, so sometimes that's a contributing factor. It could be that there are cold spots in the incubator (even fan assisted incubators have them) so constantly rearranging the eggs in the incubator can average out the cold spots and ensure the chicks hatch together.

Hope that helps some. :)

Hi. Thanks for responding. The eggs were actually laid by one of my hens. A few of the eggs were given to me by my neighbor who takes very good care of her hens. I did candle three of the eggs and there is definitely something in them I just can't tell if it's alive or not. I am very inexperienced with this. I still have the incubator running and the humidity has been constant at 70% all day today. This is the end of day 23 so I guess I will leave them another day or two and just make sure nothing else hatches. The incubator I am using is a forced air incubator. One of those that holds 48 eggs with a self turner Thank you again for all of your information.
