We are on day 24 and we have a still air incubator .. we kept it at 99.5 (per website instructions for specific incubator)
we have had three eggs hatch and two have died.. the live chick is doing fine but still wet (after 10 hours) and still in the incubator.
the problem is that we are pretty sure that we have a ROTTEN egg! it is really smelly and we do not know if we should make the healthy chick hang out in the rotten incubator any longer? Open incubator to remove healthy chick (dead chicks already removed) and place separately in brooder or just leave and ignore smell?
need a reply QUICK!

At day 24 I personally would pull the chicks and clean it out. I would also check your thermometer against a certified one or calibrate it. Late hatches like that usually indicate low incubating temperatures. Are you sure your still air recommended 99.5? I have never used one but thought they should be slightly higher than circulated air models, 100 I think I read.

I have a still air and I normally keep it at 101. When you have a fan the warmth gets distributed more evenly then still air so a higher temp in still air compensates for higher temps on top.
