She is very lethargic. she was able to stand but recently has been laying like the picture attached. I have looked everything up from vent fleet to water belly. she has a lot of symptoms of alot of things. I don’t want to euthanize her if I don’t have to. This is my last resort. I did see something in her watery yellow poop that resembles round worm. I just gave her a deworming treatment today. She does not seem egg bound but I has not laid an egg in at least three days.

Symptoms:
lethargic
won’t eat or drink without coaxing
recently won’t stand
feather on but we’re poopy (I cut them off)
I am not sure if that is a bloated belly because I have not seen a butt without deathers
heavy breathing!
she has been sleeping ALOT

If anyone has advice about treatment or if i can even save her, it would be much appreciated

Britt

You could try to withdraw some of the ascites fluid if you have an 18 gauge needle from the feed store. Wipe the belly with antiseptic and insert it straight in just under the skin until you get yellow fluid. A syringe can be attached or you can use the needle alone. She looks like she is molting, and she may be too far gone. Has she been acting off, or has she laid eggs recently? Does she have any yellow urates in her droppings? Those are usually white caps, and if yellow are another sign of water belly and liver failure. Many hens can suffer this from reproductive disorders, cancer, fatty live disease, and sometimes heart failure. Sorry about your hen.
