I have a hen that just stands around. I haven't seen her eat anything but maybe a little grass. Plus I don't think she's drinking any water. She doesn't seem sick other than she doesn't move and she sits with her eyes closed. Excuse me she sits and stands with her eyes closed. I noticed this because she wouldn't come out of the coop. I've been giving her some yogurt and pedialite as well as trying to feed her some of their favorite suet cake. It's been about two weeks of this behavior I don't know what more to do.
She used to like meal worms but since this has happened she hasn't showed any interest in them either. If anyone has any idea whats going on I would really appreciate some help.

I haven't noticed any but I do know that they are runny. She seems to hold her head down alot and her comb look pale looking. I've been messaging around her crop area and that seem to perk her up abit. But I don't think it's that.

Has she been wormed recently? Worms can suck the life right out of a bird. Too much grass is not good for her either. You need to do a full inspection of her entire body...check for mites, especially at the vent area or behind the neck, under the wings. Move all her parts to see if she has any pain. If she has not been wormed this past year, do so. Feel her abdomen for any swelling, or possibly a stuck egg. Check her poop for consistency and color, check her crop out first thing in the morning to make sure it is emptying. Look at her face and eyes for swelling. How is the comb in color...pale or bright red? Look for anything that might be the cause of her ailing.

Give some sugar water that will perk her up abit. Sounds like you need to treat for cocci. I use Sulmet with awesome results. Also organic ACV in the water, but not at the same time as the ACV may dilute the meds.

check out the photo in "sick chick please help!" thread below (I didnt know it was an older thread when I replied just now)-- does the photo look like your bird-- the posture, the way its eyes are closed-- I have little 6 week old that sits in the same way, same issues as yours -- I thought maybe cocci too but in that case/ thread it wasnt, am sort of stumped...
but cocci seem to be the most common culprit--

Check out the link in the sick chick thread-- it lists all the names for the med for cocci-- if I were home I would go out ASAP and buy it and treat my girls-- as it it I hope mine can hang on til I get back home (tommorrow night) and buy it and treat them... Monday....

Give corid 9.6% solution at 9.5 ml per galon of water make this thier only sorce of water give for 5 days make fresh every day and don't give any vitimins. electrolites or ACV.It does not matter if they are on medicated feed or non medicated feed. Yoy can get corid at a farm store like TSC it is for cattle not chickens. Treat whole flock if they have cocci this will get rid of it if they don't it won't hurt then. Also be very specific when mixing do not over or under dose.
If you can't find the corid give sulmet not as good as corid but does work. What ever you do do it fast because cocci works fast. Just a side note you don't have to have blood in poop for it to be cocci but if there is blood she may not have long.

This is all IMO

Thanks, I went to the store and bought the corid and I've all ready started given it to her. I'm going to treat the others tomorrow. I hoping this works. She's such a little lover. I would hate to loose her. I'll keep you posted on the progress.
