Yes, I know it was silly to order them both on the same day but I was impatient & impulsive!
I paid for expedited shipping on the incubator and thought it'd get here before my eggs did, but our eggs arrived this afternoon and the incubator did not.
Can I hold them off? For how long? If so, what should I do with/for them while waiting for the incubator?
I suppose I could go to the local feed store and purchase an incubator if need be, but all they have are the still air version.

Thanks for helping this anxious newbie out!

The eggs need to sit for 24 hours anyway before incubating. I've let them sit for up to 72, though I don't necessarily recommend this, and hatched great.

But.. your incubator is going to need to sit for awhile running too to regulate. Mininum of 6 to 8 hours. Recommended is 24. You should be good though, and worst case scenario, you can start incubating them in a basket under a light bulb.

Hang in there Patty, I'm holding shipped eggs for a second set of shipped eggs to join them. Shipped the same day one still got here before the second.

Happens all the time. And it's really better to get the incubator STABLE than to get the eggs in quickly.

If you put the eggs in fast and the temps rocket to 114 and the eggs get cooked you won't be happy. So hard as it is, get the bator and let it settle in first.

Here begins the first two lessons on hatching. Patience is the only virtue that will get you sanely through this. And when anything CAN go wrong - it will. Always. Plan on it.

If you plan on everything going wrong you can be pleasantly surprised when it doesn't. See how that works??? And Hi neighbor, I'm over near Knoxville.

Hot enough for ya?
