So, I had 22 keets and 7 turkeys arrive last Friday. So far 12 keets and 1 turkey poult have died out of the blue. They are now 8 days old. (Please no debating on if it's coccidia or not, I've had a vet tell me and the hatchery suggest E. tenella as the culprit)
Many have suggested corid and they are on it at a high treatment dose given 1-2 times daily by dropper and provided in the water. My question is, the ones that die look like they've starved. They're all skin and bones. I do see them eating frequently but I don't know if they're absorbing nutrients. The turkeys are growing well, have wing feathers in. The guineas barely look older than day 2.
I had them on nutrena gamebird but some suggested it may be a bad batch or I need more animal proteins so I am trying some Peck and Scratch starter that I've pulsed in the blender to make it smaller.
I've added in crumbled up egg at the morning feeding so I can remove it later. Should mention they do have access to chick grit.
Question is, what healthy foods can I add in that won't upset, dehydrate, or cause further diarrhea? I don't know if they'll pull through because of how scrawny they are and even with forcing fluids I need them to eat more.
I heard apple cider vinegar makes them drink more but the acidity can burn their tender tummies.
So, I need recipes or suggestions to fatten them up! Please help!
