I recently purchased a GQF 1502 Sportsman. My first hatch rate of eggs making it to lockdown was 71.4%, the next week 66.7%, then 23.1, then 37.5, and last week 0%. The number of eggs I set in the incubator in a week ranges from from 9 to 18 eggs.

I bought the GQF based on good reviews and wanting to do continual weekly hatches. I’m wondering if there might be a sanitation issue with using it constantly. How often do you clean out an incubator and how do you do that while it is in continual use?

With my former styrofoam incubator I would clean and sanitize after every hatch. Didn’t get great hatch rates which is another reason for buying GQF. But at least I got a hatch. I was excited with the results of the first two weeks. But this last 0% hatch was disappointing.

Just put 5 of 9 in lockdown tonight hoping for a better batch in the next couple of days.

Hoping to learn from others experience with a continuous incubator/hatcher. Looking to get hatch rates up above 80% with some learning from the good people here.

I clean mine out with cotton balls and Qtips. I unplug mine and deep clean it, but supposedly it recalibrated or invalidates everyone so it gets further and further from right numbers whenever you unplug an incubator.

You could leave it plugged in and just soak up that nasty water and clean the tray out? That way it's running but it isn't the same gross water and germs

I just got a Sportsman with the same goals as you. Besides the continuous use, I'm wondering about different bird eggs and the parameters to use. An average?
