Help!!!! Helping chicks hatch

Stop now! Why do you have a heat lamp AND a mother hen AND the ‘nest’ is a big plastic box!?!?
It appears you are trying to control a bit too much. The mama hen can and will regulate the temperature & humidity ALL ON her own! Your hen is likely leaving the nest to take a break & stretch her legs.

Um, stop what? We always bring the nests inside when birds hatch. Too many predators here, not watching another clutch disappear one by one. And the heat lamp was only there for the two birds that couldn’t get out of the shells cause mama left gave up on them. We left the heat lamp on in case mama rejected them after our intervention and is off now. By the time we figured out where the nest even was there were three other chicks that had died. One still in the shells and two that had gotten out and were killed by something. As far as we can tell intervention was necessary for either of them to have a chance. I really feel like you didn’t read through the whole thread. They are both doing well and thriving and mama is 100% taking care of them at this point. The reason the box was there was to elevate the two chicks and the mother was there to tend to the OTHER TWO BABIES. That whole set up is gone and they are and all FIVE BIRDS are happy and healthy. And we put them all together because we wanted the mama to hear the chicks so that there was less of a chance of her rejecting them.
