Today my hen was doing fun and then after free ranging for a bit this evening she suddenly tucked her neck in, put her butt way up and is standing still. She will walk but very slowly and she was trying to be alone. Please help!!

anything I should check or be aware of that could cause this?

I’m sorry I’m not sure what’s going on with your hen. What is her status now? Do you know if she’s laid an egg today?
Nothing yet, I’m treating her as if she’s egg bound by soaking her in a warm epsom salt bath. I got some yogurt and calcium to give her. I’m just not sure how to feel her body for an egg or if this is even her situation. I’m really on edge because one of my other chickens died three days ago, she was laying these extremely big eggs, and one burst in her. I don’t want to lose another girl😔

Oh my I’m so sorry. Chicken problems are so challenging to pin point. You can stick a lubricated finger in her vet but you can also hold her back against your chest, her chest away from yours, stretching both feet to the floor, and feel around her abdomen that way. I watched my vet do this and pop an egg out of the hen in my profile coifed. It was wild

That sounds like a good idea I’m going to try that, I just got her out of her epsom soak and she’s eating a bit now.
