Help! Hen with head injury!

With coturnix quail, rooster fertility drops off dramatically at one year. Their lifespan is usually 2-5 years depending on their care. Most breeders replace their males at 1 year and their females at 18 months.
Oh wow, I was misinformed...
I'm only raising for the eggs, no interest in butchering. I local breeder who is also a falconer says that he will take my hens when they stop laying. But I'm likely going to give up my rooster.
Not sure what I'm going to do when I need to get new hens though. I didn't have much luck with the fertilized eggs that were shipped to me. Almost all of them were damaged in shipment and didn't even develop at all; only got 3 live chicks out of 18 eggs:barnie
Therefore, I had the thought of letting my quail produce my next batch of fertilized eggs

Where did you get your eggs? I have had very good luck with Southwest Game Birds and MyShire Farm.

Good morning Nabiki,
I bought my eggs from Sandy Soils Farm; the 3 that hatched were perfect, and grew into gorgeous big quail, (much healthier than the hens I got from local breeder to complete my little flock). Sandy Soils refunded my money & she encouraged me to "autopsy" the eggs that failed, which I did at 23 days (only one egg had a dead, mostly developed chick in it (that hadn't turned), the rest didn't develop at all). I blame the postal service; I think they were mishandled. Plus my incubators temp was fluctuating all over the place.
Thank you.. good suggestions! I am close enough to Southwest Game birds that I could easily drive up and bypass the postal service all together. :)
