My broody somehow got out of her pen and ended up sitting on the wrong nest. The eggs cooled but I don't know how long they were left unattended. The temp in the coop is around 55-60 degrees. Do you think they are a lost cause now? She only has till monday till the hatching should start.

sounds like you are in the same fix as some of the bator listmembers ... read their threads too, but I betcha you get SOME hatching if not all

however, she might have left the nest because something was going wrong with the unhatched peeps ... we'd all like to think that "mama knows best"

keep us up to date

That close to the hatch date you may be fine. At that point the embryos are producing some of their own heat & are pretty well developed.

ps-that butter my butt thing's a little weird

We had a hen do the same thing back in November. She was off the nest for at least 1/2 hour and the coop was about 45-50. Had 66% survival from that hatch.
