Hello I have Dominiques and I am new at having chickens. I have had them since they were bitties. I have spent the last 30minutes or longer tryin to catch them to put them in their coop. I had one chicken to climb up the ramp but others did not. How do I get them to climb it? I tried putting food on each little step and it didn't work

. And I was told that Dominiques were good temperament birds. I have become somewhat scared of them cause they have pecked Me. I did not know if it was because they are getting bigger and starting to out grow the cage. They are in a elevated rabbit cage with a nesting box added on to it. They are possibly little over a month old

I wish I knew. It took me more than a week of catching them and putting them in the coop every night. Not fun, especially considering it was 10 degrees and winter time when I did it!

Try putting them into their coop a little later in the evening. I was trying to get mine in the coop at around 7 and I guess they thought that was too early. If I wait till after 8, they are already inside and roosting.

It was after 8 when I finally got them in. They were tryin to bed down and roost under the coop.

Nellie nix,
How many weeks old are these little ones? It might take them until they are about 4 months to get it. We have 7 week old chicks and they are out in the big coop, separated from our old girls and they can't do it either. They start up the ramp but can't make it all the way. We have to catch them and put them in the coop. Don't be afraid of them. If their little they don't hurt. If their big just hold their faces away from you when you pick them up.

I had one that went into coop up the ramp but the others did not want to go and had to catch them and put them in it

Well if no one has an easy solution, at least hopefully yours will learn as fast as mine did, which I think was actually about 10 days. I remember posting on here asking for help because I was at my wits end about it, and then the very next day they were all magically in on their own, and that was that.
