HELP!!! I cracked an egg!!

I was checking my temp/humidity thing for temp ranges when I got home tonight ,dropped it and made a spider crack in the big end. I read somewhere that someone put wax over the crack and still had the egg hatch. All I had was scented candle wax but I figured it was worth a try. Has anyone tried this? Any success?

I just light a candle and let the wax drip to cover the cracks. Good luck. Deb

Yes, I've tried this. I had a broody setting on eggs outside (not my idea), and a roo came along and jumped on her trying to do his business.

I did the candle wax thing on a couple. One of them made it, one didn't. Just make VERY sure you watch for bad smells. Don't want it exploding on you.

I've had 2 eggs that got cracked. Put wax on them. The first hatched just fine, and the other is pipped right now. So long as the membrane doesnt get punctured they are usually fine.
