So for a little context, I had been candling the 3 chicken eggs that I had in my incubator. 1 of them was already peeping to me! The other two were quiet, but looked like they would be peeping soon too! I waited for about a day. I got inpatient which is all my fault. I made a tiny hole in one of the non peeping eggs. Then next day it started peeping! The one that was peeping before is quiet and not moving. I realize I have been in and out of the incubator WAY too often. The one that I had poked a hole in started peeping this morning, so I got a little too excited to see their face. I opened the hole a tiny bit more until I could see a bit easier into the egg. I feel terrible, because there is no way that she is ready to hatch yet. She keeps yelling at me from the incubator. I have been brushing water drops onto the exposed membrane so it doesn't shrink rap her. I don't know what to do with my eggs at this point and I really need help!!! The last egg hasn't even poked through the air pocket yet. Please give me ideas for what to help the poor babies!! I feel awful about poking the hole in the one and am wondering if the other that had peeped is just resting before they hatch or if there is something wrong!!

I have an update!!! The egg that had the hole is fully hatched and healthy!! This is the very first time using this incubator AND it is the first successful hatch in any incubator I have used!! The bad news is that the first to peep at me has passed away. The third egg is still alive, just didn't start forming as quickly as the other 2! It should hatch here in around 3-5 days!! Super happy and excited!!

I had a hen peck a hole in an egg at 14 days. U have to keep the opening sterile. This egg had a1/4" hole and cracked half way around. I cut a small piece of plastic and used steri straps to hold the plastic and put steri straps on the cracks and put it into the incubator. The little burger lived. And is 3 months old now.

Hatching eggs is absolutely

The best advice I ever got was…sit on your hands! Hatching eggs is so exciting but also so stressful, it’s called lockdown for a reason, and I have absolutely learned from experience not to intervene, unless absolutely necessary. So now I just tend to let nature take its course 🙂 why did the first egg not make it?
