Help I need advice

I have incubated chicken eggs a few times in my second grade classroom. I checked to be sure I had plenty of water and correct temperature before leaving school on Friday. I returned to find the temperature running 95 to 96 degrees. Not sure why, but I have it back to the correct temp now. Is all lost? Will my class be disappointed? What should I do?
