I noticed today that one of our 6 month old Barred Rock Hen's wasn't herself and was just off by herself hiding behind a tree close to the chicken house. Once I got up close enough to her I also noticed that her comb isn't as pretty bright red/orangy as normal and as her sisters. . It looks like it's shrank and has darkend even? She is drinking water, but wasn't interested and knocking me over for treats this evening. I need some wisdom here, any guesses what might be ailing miss China Checker?

In the picture her crop looks kind of full. Can you check that first thing in the morning before she eats? It should be flat. If it is full she may have impacted crop or sour crop which are two different things. Some other things to consider are worms, mites, lice, or an internal egg laying issue (has she started to lay yet?) Here is a link to crop issues and treatment: http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2012/04/answers-from-chicken-vet-on-impacted.html
