Help Identify Chicken/Rooster?

This chicken/rooster was rescued by a neighbor and is currently bunking (alone) in my friend's chicken run. If anyone can tell if it's a chicken or rooster and what breed it is, it would be much appreciated. It was very hungry, but seems healthy and is friendly. Thanks in advance for any help!

I think it's a roo, can't see the saddle feathers all to well but i guess they are pointed. Not sure on the breed though

What a cutie. Chicken is the species, Cochin is the breed, and cockerel is the sex.

“ Chicken” Is like human, it refers to the species. Hen/pullet means female, cockerel/rooster means male. Which it is.
