So after reading everything about niacin etc I ventured to Walmart they had no flush which after reading I now know is not the correct kind for ducklings. If I can't find niacin how much brewers yeast don't get get? I can find tablets if those right at Walmart. Thanks

In my experience brewer's yeast comes in packets or in a little canister like baking powder. From what I have gathered ( and I am no expert!) you sprinkle small amounts on top of their food ( a tablespoon maybe?) so if you get the yeast in either the packet or the canister you should have enough to last a good while. Hope this has been helpful and PLZ do NOT take my word on how much yeast is the correct amount.

This is what I found at Walmart?

I have only ever been able to find the no flush type of niacin and I have used it without problems. Frankly, I don't know why it is recommended to not use it. I see it all the time but I honestly don't know and havent' asked. This doesn't mean that I haven't just been lucky to not have issues, I just haven't.

For brewer's yeast, per Storey's Guide, you add 5-7.5lbs of "livestock grade brewer's yeast" to 100 lbs of feed. So you can divide that down but I have no info about tablets. I've never seen or asked for brewer's yeast either though. Storey's Guide also just says "niacin capsules or tablets" with no mention of flush-free so I don't know if it's assumed or not.

Hopefully others will chime in.

I'm no expert on niacin, but when I was doing my research into it I believe it was actually somewhere on this forum that I read that the reason you don't want the no flush niacin is that they can't absorb it properly. I was able to find Niacin tablets (which is vitamin B3 - Nicotinic Acid) at a health food store.

I think you are in good shape with what you found, I would dissolve a tablet in some warm water and drizzle that on their food once a day. It is not as precise-sounding as the capsules in water, until one thinks about how much water a duckling can splash in a day....how much of it gets into them, I wonder? Probably not the same amount every day, huh? Goofy little waterfowl.
