I'm sure "Cream Puff" is a Roo as he has already crowed... (the buff silkie)... and I am concerned that "Porsha" is a Roo (the white silkie)... Her behavior mimics Cream Puffs... and they have that chest bumping thing going on. Can you tell if my white silkie is a Roo? And if she is a he... can Wilamena be by herself? I can't keep roos and do have a home for them... but should I try again, and get a couple more bantam chicks and hope for hens?

Any input would be great.

I dont know silkies, but my pullets and roos chest bump. I would guess that the white silkie is a pullet. there is no red in that little comb. BUT like I said, I have no silkies... just a friendly guess.

Silkie combs do not turn red.
It looks like might be a pullet to me.

She can be by herself but she will be very very lonely that way.
Chickens are very social animals.

Yeah i think the white is a hen, and just because it crowed doesn't mean it's a rooster!

though by the second picture it looks like he has sickle feathers.. Indicating rooster.

I will see if I can get some better pictures of Porsha tonight and post them... I'm really hoping she is a hen, but if she is a he, he will have to go to the farm.

That will leave Wilamena so alone... and she is a very social chicken. I can't have her alone... I will find her some friends.

Thanks again.

She's annoyed now... just wait till you see the next two pictures of her tail feathers.

I don't see the same types of tail feathers developing as is on Cream Puff. So what do you all think?

"She" is a little over 8 weeks... Hatched May 3rd... so hoping for a girl. Cream Puff seems so much more "he" and is the same age.
