He looks like a cockerel, that's a big comb and it's turning red, and his wattles are developing more.

And Welcome to BYC!

Did you buy a sexed pullet?

I remember my speckled Sussex getting her comb and starting her waddles very early. She was pretty pink early too. I would have to find the pics, but she ended up being a she. I do remember after keeping up with the boys for a while her comb stopped growing as fast and stayed punk, where as the boys kept getting redder and larger.

Wow, yeah, looking mighty masculine. My SS girl was early to pink and develop wattles but she was still nowhere near that little guy.

Wow! Her comb is big, but notice how her wattles aren't as developed as the guy up at the top of the thread.

You are right, but... The pics make it hard to see that ahe does have wattles and they are pink.

Lol, I even have some of her babies out back I'm trying to figure out if they are boys or girls, and they are mutts.

It's hard to determine if a mutt is male or female (in my view), I just hoped the accident one was a female..

Thanks so much for the help and welcome! Is it a general rule that darker red of comb and wattle and larger is male? Does it have to be both red and large of both for a rooster or just red or just large?
