I am hatching for the first time in egg cartons, went into Lock down yesterday with a Wednesday hatch, question, there is humidity building up in bator, I have a Genesis Hova Bator, I have water coming out of the holes on the bottom and moisture building up on the plexi glass (see through bator) since my last 2 hatches were done without the egg cartons, I did not have this problem, what do I do, is it something to worry about!! I have 1 egg piping:caf

The egg carton has probably absorbed a lot of the moisture and is now giving back to the air in the incubator. I have never used the egg carton method but this is all I could think of.

What is the humidity reading?

I don't know, it said that I never had to worry about it, just fill the first chamber during regular incubation, and than during lock down, fill both chambers and leave it alone!!

I have 3 genesis hova bator incubators and use them to also hatch in. I have always hatched in the paper egg trays and my humidity gets up in the high 70's. But I have leave the top vent hole open and have the bator sitting on a tiled table that does not absorb moisture. I haven't had the problem of moisture build-up or water coming out the bottom, so I'm not sure why this is happening to yours. Could the water be coming from the tray below. I fill my 2 chambers half way up, that way when the chicks start to hatch the water level has gone down some, and the moisture from the hatch keeps up the humidity.

Have you hatched during a different season? Maybe its more humid now in general than before so that combined with the water is raising it?

You need to get a hydrometer, no mater what the directions say you need to find out what the humidity is in there, sounds like its a little to high from what you are saying.
