Our broody hen hatched out 1 chick this week. Last night we stuck some chicks up under her hoping she would accept them. This morning things looked good! They were all under her and it seemed she was accepting them. My kids went out to look at her and they were under her then all of the sudden she freaked out! Started stomping on them, scratching, pecking and trying to kill them. Is that it? Will she not accept them? Or do I try again?

I would take them away from her. If she's acting like that, she definitely can't be trusted with chicks. How old were the extra chicks you gave to her?

Hi I had a chicken like that
I had to keep baby's separate and feed separate aswell but that all good now

She's been all fussy all day today. I might try again tonight. I really don't want to brood these chicks inside! really need her to accept them. Any suggestions?

She was attacking them. She did great all night though! They stayed under her and in the morning things looked good. She just freaked for some reason.
