I am very new to this, in fact this is the first forum I have ever participated in, so please bear with me as it is for an important cause. I am a mother of three young children living in Brandon Fl. I would love to legally keep some backyard chickens for many reasons, including being able to share the joy of the chicken experience (one i had as a child) with my children. The "land use codes" for my area currently prohibit chickens in ALL residential zones and I have decided to attempt to get that changed. I am just beginning so any advice or information anyone has to offer would be greatly appreciated. I have visited www.chicken-revolution and am trying to follow the recommended steps. Bringing me to my next point. I am looking for ANY like-minded individuals who would be willing to commit theme-selves to this project. I would think it might help if you live in or around the Brandon area but ANYONE is welcome! If you are longing to keep chickens for your-self or your family, or are a secret chicken keeper already and want to come out of hiding please contact me. I am hoping my chances of getting the local ordinances changes are good, and am willing to do the work, and put forth the effort to get it done. I look forward to hearing for you!

Just came across your post and was wondering if you have had any success with changing the laws? Do you currently keep chickens? I have had them here in Brandon for a few years, I only keep 6 and no roos they free range my back yard and great insect control, fertilizer makers and compost turners as well as entertaining and the eggs are so delish. It looks like you posted this a while ago and didn't get any response I came across it by accident and I must admit my curiosity has gotten the best of me wondering if you pursued your goal.
