all i ever seem to hear is about how bad 'bators are. So how do I know which is the best to choose??

I am (probably) not going to be hatching millions of eggs (I know, you've heard that before! LOL!)

I don't want to spend tons of money $100 would be good $200 is the absolute max i think.

I am home all day, so attention and time is available if it needs it.

what do you suggest i buy?

thanks

There are many differant bators out there. You will have to decide which one has the options you want. I recently bought a Brinsea eco 20. I did some research on this site and other places as well and the Brinsea has a lot of postive feedback. I got mine at Brinsea .com for $99 and got a turner with it altogether plus S&H I believe it was around $175. I really like it. All I did was set the eggs, the bator is great at keeping temp and humidity.

I have experience with only three 'bators....

LG still-air: not worth the box it comes in.

Old, old, old-skool Hova-Bator with wafer thermostat: it works for me.

Genesis 1588: I would buy one of these for sure. The one I'm using is borrowed.

My husband built me an incubator and it has worked wonderfully. It holds 24 eggs, we put eggs in as they are laid and so far 12 has hatched. Built with love, I would not trade it for any incubator in the world.

Look into a Brinsea Octogon 20 - hatches 24 eggs. $99. The shape lets you rotate the whole machine instead of turning each egg, or you canget the optional turner for $50. If you search on Brinsea, you will see how happy everyone is with it. They have a smaller one. I think it holds 7 eggs. They give a 2 year warranty. You disinfect it by putting the base in the dishwasher. Go to Brinsea.com for the best price. Unless you buy it used here or on craigslist. Hard to find people don't tend to sell them.

I just ordered a Genesis 1588. Everyone I know with one seems to love it.

(just mess with the humidity...while everyone else is having to take a look at their 'bators every half hour and tinker with the temp. control)
