I got her and another one a week ago. They seemed perfectly healthy then. Took em to a small walk in my garden and some water adventure in a small tub. By night she looked fine too. Then the next day I saw a bulge on the top of her eye, red and swollen, her eye half-shot. I applied a lot of eye drops like tetracycline and the bulge above her eye went away but seems like it came down and now her eye seems like it's deformed. She also keeps scratching it and I'm afraid she'll make it worse so I put this on her head to prevent that but obviously i know this bothers her. What should I do? I know she sees somewhat and hasn't gone full blind but it's not looking too good... her other eye and her energy levels are fine btw

i don’t think you’re supposed to use tetracycline? isn’t that human eye drops?
first use saline to rinse eye gently.
then use terramycin ointment. they sell it at tractor supply or online from amazon i think. it’s for animals.
and yes make sure her water is just deep enough for her to dunk her head in. @Miss Lydia

It's a version of tetracycline for birds that I saw a lot of these similar threads suggest. I'll check out terramycin too.

Terramycin is ophthalmic tetracycline, eyes are eyes if it is human eye safe a bird can use it. Is her eyeball chronicAlly looking towards her ear? (Opposite of cross eyed?). If so it is probably an issue with the muscles on one side of her eye (both sides should pull, if one side gives out it ‘wins’ the tug of war and the eye is always looking in the same direction). Could be nerve or muscle damage (injury?). May go away in a few weeks or be permanent, but assist isn’t contagious or progressive in cause it is more silly looking than anything. No need for antibiotics if no active infection (swelling, redness, discharge, keeps eye closed, lethargic). A bird safe anti inflammatory may be more helpful.

Quick update: applied some more saline water and tetracycline and this morning the sticky white thing came off of her eye. Her eye looks fine now. Thank you to everyone who tried to help
