So I purchased some chicks from my local feed store...they said they were an "over-hatch" and they didn't order them so they aren't sure what the breed is. They were told the black ones were Silver Laced Wyandottes and the brown ones were Aracaunas. Can anyone confirm this for me? I don't really care either way, I would just like to know what I have. Thank you.

Well- I had the same question- Mine looked just like the reddish ones, I was told by ACE that they were RIR's but here they said it's a production red-- which are wonderful birds!!!

I'm not sure of the others though--

Good luck and I'm curious to see if they really are something besides a production red--( great egg layers by the way )

7.5 months old ( sorry not the best picture ) I am assuming this is what they will look like since I got them all from the same place I did last year ( but this one didn't have the same markings but it is a production red )

I do see a lot of Easter eggers, which is what the hatcheries and feed stores call ameraucanas. They're not ameraucanas, though. Should lay green eggs if they're girls. I'm also seeing silver-laced wyandottes. Have fun!
