I have 9 chickens total. I have educated guesses on what they MIGHT be, but never am entirely sure. Here is what I believe I have:

-4 white leghorns
-2 polish hens (the white and black speckled, one missing her plume)
-1 Rhode Island Red?
-1 Americauna/Easter Egger
-1 Black Minorca? Vader the creeper chicken...

Brabanters eh? Never heard of those, thank you so much! Yeah the non-crested one is storm. She is more neurotic than Vader.

All these girls were free with the purchase of a bag of feed at a pet supply store so I know they all aren't anything too special in terms of breeding. But they have pretty good demeanors overall and are great producers!

Mohawk is the one of my arm. She was hit by a hawk over the summer and I had to do needle decompressions on her since it seemed like an air sac had ruptured.

I don't know about the black one. Maybe just a poorer quality Minorca.
I am surprised you got the brabanters free. They are actually a rarer breed. I want some so bad :bow

I think they were giving them away because they were on the older side of the chick stage and losing their "cuteness." Therefore, they were desperate to berid of them.

Are Minorcas typically warm climate birds less tolerant of cold climates? That is what they warned my wife of with Vader the Creeper.

That's a bad reason to get rid of chickens...you really lucked out!
Minorcas are not as cold hardy but you should be OK as long as you watch the comb for frostbite.
