I need help. Here is the scenario. Wed and Thur I spotted a small fox at my driveway on my way home from work. When I notice him he is already on the run My truck head lights spook him. Tonight I spotted him less than 20 yards from my chicken coop. I thought for sure my chickens were all dead. He was running away from the coop. I have an electric fence around the coop. I wouldn't think he could get at them but I don't know. I have no problems killing this fox but I'm not sure how. How am I going to shoot him in total darkness. I can't see my sights at all on my ar outside at dark even with a flash light mounted. I need all the suggestions I can get.

what time do you think he is headin to the coop? have you tried livetraps? if possible could you see on a well lit nite from the moon nite let your eyes adjust. its easier in the winter. then shoot him. need anymore ideas

I pull up around 10:30pm and I see him. There are to many trees around the coop. They make it pretty dark and impossiable for a shot. I guess I need a live trap. What should I bait it with?

You need a good flash light on your gun mounted. They are not that expensive. We shoot all our predators at night and we do it with a gun and the flashlight.

Or get a motion activated floodlight that can be set to stay on for a few minutes. Even a solar one is a good idea if you cant or wont run another line to teh outside.

Foxes are a bit smarter than coons etc..
or get a leg trap.. allthough I dont like those myself.. I rather kill it outright than having it suffer in the trap for hours in pain.
