I just went to candle the eggs under a broody outside. One of the eggs ends is smashed in. I went ahead and candled it and there was movement inside. I doubt there is anything I can do but thought I would ask.

There might be nothing you can do. If it had happened later in the hatch I would suggest putting it in a damp sock and twist tying it off and then removed it when I heard pipping. I did this once a few years ago but took it from the hen and put it in an incubator and it way closter to the hatch date than yours. The chick was fine too. Absolutly no ill effects that I could find.

I would throw it away unless you are willing to experiment with an incubator.

I dont have an incubator or I might try. I also found an extra egg in there so apparently someone stuck in there and laid an egg, Im guessing she is the one who broke it. Out of the four under her the broke one and one other are the only ones I see development in. But this is the first time I have done this so Im not positive about the other two.
