I have a hard one for you all! Normally by four weeks you can tell if a serama is a cockerel or pullet. Not Soybean…. Soybean started life normal but it quickly became clear something was wrong. For the first two weeks of its life I had to keep it in an incubator otherwise it got too cold. It remained INCREDIBLY small when compared to its brother Cashew (who hatched on the same day). Even now I’m leaning towards cockerel, but it’s really not clear.
Here is how Soybean hatched, on November 28th 2025. Soybean is nearly four months old…
Here it is on December 19th with its brother Cashew. They are the same age.
And here it is on December 23rd, where you can really see the size difference.
Here is Soybean today:
And their butt! I think there’s pointy saddle feathers, but idk.
For reference, here is Cashew:
And their dad Mimolette (he’s not in jail
- I keep my littles inside for the winter)
Any ideas??
