On of my baby chicks got is wing bit off what do I do I've never had this happen

He is active and eating but it looks bad

If he hasn't been separated from other chicks, remove him. I know someone with more first aid knowledge will chime in eventually, but right now you want to make sure the other chicks don't make it worse.

How did it happen?

OK wash off all the blood and separate him from everyone immediately try softly dabbing peroxide on it to disinfect it giving him some terrimycin might help to prevent infection you will need to wrap it every day and change the wrap every day putting neosporin on it will help but make sure it doesn't have any painkillers in it he may be in shock so make sure you keep him warm

try to cut off any bone that is pretruding outside of the wound so that the skin can heal over it and infection is less likely

not the whole bone just the bit that is protruding so yes

ETA: dont give her anything that ends in cain/cane/caine
