I'm brand new to this whole raising chickens thing, and I really want to make sure I'm doing what is best for my babies. I have 10 babies that I have had since the week before Easter. They all are doing very well. They're all growing like crazy and very active. I am wanting to raise them organically and free-range.

I've been looking at research and I guess I'm just confused or I'm not getting the direct answers that I'm looking for.

If I want to raise them organically, do I give them any medications? Wormers? Vitamins? Electrolytes? I'm confused by the entire thing!

I want healthy, organic chickens that will give me healthy, organic eggs. I'd rather be proactive and PREVENT diseases than have to worry about treating them later. I keep their brooder clean, give them organic, all natural starter feed, and clean water daily. What else should I be doing? HELP!

I did find out about diotemaceous earth and apple cider vineagar.

As far as worming goes I would look into either Safeguard or Valbezan.. Not necessarily organic but if you want your birds to stay worm free it it best to get them on a program. Both items are also used for Human parasites.

Other than that good food and oyster shell .

Hi,
I use Poultry Nutri-Drench to get my chicks off to a strong start:
One drop only by mouth per chick to start off. 2 cc's per gallon of water for the 1st 2 weeks of life. .

I talked to the science techs at Bovidr Labs who make both formulas and they said if you can't get the Poultry Nutri-Drench , to use Pet Nutri-Drops with the same usage and dosage instructions as the Nutri-Drench. If you get a really stressed out bird, use 4cc's per gallon. If the taste of 4cc's is too strong for them, just back down to 2cc's and you'll be fine, they said. Note all natural ingredients and best of all, doesn't need digesting! Mainlines directly into the bloodstream, I have used both of these Bovidr Labs formulas on my collies and poultry for over a decade. I found the best prices at Tractor Supply with the 4 oz. Poultry formula at 6.99 and the circa 4 oz. Pet formula at about 9.99 .

Thanks y'all. I'm ordering some nutri-drench. Amazon has much bigger containers with prime 2 day shipping. FYI. :)
